He Cervantes Institute has received the I General Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor y Flores Award for International Cooperation granted by the Viator City Council (Almería).
The entire award will go to the NGO Coordinadora de Barrios, located in the Madrid neighborhood of Vallecas, which fight against the marginalization of young people at risk of social exclusion.
The award ceremony is part of the activities that the council has organized around the figure of Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor y Flores (1844-1912), a soldier from Almería who not only stood out for his performance in different military operations, but also for his contributions to the creation of new designs of artillery weapons.
Other entities recognized in this first edition of the award have been the Provincial Maritime Service of the Civil Guard (Spirit of Service Award), the National Police Corps (Valor Award) and the Tercio de Extranjeros Foundation (Equality and Integration Award). ).
