The artist Paloma San Basilio will say goodbye to the stage with his tour ‘Gracias‘ he June 5th and 6th at the Universal Music Festivalfor which the presence of artists such as Rosario, Chambao, Santiago Auserón, María Terremoto, Juanjo Bona, Salif Keita and Chiara Oliver has already been confirmed.
“It was time for a farewell tour, ‘Thank you’. When I have things clear, I carry them out. It’s an internal process and you know what you have to do. It’s a perfect moment, it’s already been 50 years of career and I really enjoy being on stage, but I can do many different things: due to the format, audiovisual or repertoire. I have a lot of things to do, the good thing is that I’m leaving because I have things to do. “I am anything but ageism.”San Basilio said during the presentation of the poster this Monday, January 20, in the same theater that will host the concerts, the Teatro Albéniz.
Thus, the artist explained that these latest concerts are an “act of gratitude” to all the people who have followed her career over 50 years. “This is an act of absolute gratitude. Gratitude to all the people who have followed me for so many years. I am a person who goes out all day everywhere. And the people are still there. In the concerts we have done now, people have so much affection, so much respect,” has added.
Among the concerts that she has “recorded in her memory”, Paloma San Basilio explained to presenter Jorge Javier Vázquez – who hosted the event – that one of the most important was the one she shared with Plácido Domingo, whom she described as “a man with enormous human generosity.” She has also joked about the “admiration” that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, has for her..
“Yeah, It’s true that (Trump) is my fan. I have to laugh, what are we going to do, one has to have everything. It was in a hotel in the United States, I don’t remember when it was but it was already a little orange, almost orange. But hey, I had another point. They told me that Donald Trump had come to see me and I said: ‘Well, look, that’s great, what I want is for him to hire me many times.’ (…) When I was in my room he called me (…) to tell me that he had really liked the concert and that he admired me very much. “I could have been Melania, smaller and not so angry,” she joked.
