Yle: One Morning Left is excluded from the New music competition due to a breach of contract, the band ceases its activities

New One Morning Left, previously selected for the music competition, will be excluded from the competition due to a breach of contract, says Yleisradio, the organizer of the competition, in a press release. In the new music competition, Finland’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest in May will be selected.

“Unfortunately, One Morning Left will not be seen at this year’s UMK, because the rules of the competition have not been followed in all respects,” says UMK’s chief producer Anssi Autio in the bulletin.

“The decision was also related to the EBU’s Eurovision Song Contest rules, according to which such a violation of the rules is an unequivocal obstacle to the representation of five.”

However, the band itself tells about the reasons for the incident In an Instagram post. According to it, a member of the band Mika Lahtea accusations would have been made against him on social media, according to which he had communicated with a possibly underage person on the Irc gallery website between 2007 and 2010. Lahti himself denies the accusations.

However, the band says that it will withdraw from the New Music competition and at the same time it will stop its activities completely. At the same time, the One Morning Left joint-stock company behind the band is liquidated.

Due to the group’s withdrawal, six participants remain in the competition, meaning that no other competitor will be taken in its place. The new music competition will be held at Tampere’s Nokia Arena on February 8.
