Caricatura Museum shows exhibition of Walter Moers’ work

The Caricature-Museum in Frankfurt am Main shows works by the comic artist, illustrator and writer Walter Moers. The Museum of Comic Art announced that the exhibition “The Comic Art of Walter Moers” will present numerous original illustrations and unpublished sketches from February 1st to June 15th: “Whether Captain Blaubär’s tall tales, the deeply black humor of the Little Asshole or the fantastic one Continent of Zamonia, there is a lot to discover in Walter Moers’ cosmos.”

According to Caricatura, illustrations can be seen from the Zamonien novels and the graphic novels for the bestseller “The City of Dreaming Books”, a collaboration with the illustrator Florian Biege.

The exhibition also focuses on Moer’s comics, works for the satirical magazine “Titanic” and iconic characters such as Adolf, the Nazi pig, and the Little Asshole. Short animated films and selected Moers figures by the sculptor Carsten Sommer round off the exhibition.

The exhibition was created in cooperation with the Ludwiggalerie Schloss Oberhausen. More than 300 original drawings, puppets and animations from Moers’ work were on display there until January 19th.

The show in Frankfurt is complemented by a selection of original etchings and objects by the American author and artist Edward Gorey. Last year, on the occasion of the artist’s 100th birthday, Walter Moers published the book “Edward Gorey – Grand Master of the Curious”.
