Querer and Casa en Llamas sweep the Feroz Awards, very demanding and with a marked Galician accent

Some very distributed ‘little foxes’ that award ‘Salve María’ as best dramatic film and ‘Celeste’ as best comedy series

Alauda Ruiz de Azúa’s series, ‘Querer’, about sexual harassment within marriage, and the film ‘Casa en llamas’, by Dani de la Orden, have been the big winners of some very demanding Feroz Awards with a marked Galician accent. .

For just over two hours, the Association of Cinematographic Informants of Spain (AICE) has awarded the best audiovisual productions of the year with a gala dinner hosted by LaDani, who in his opening monologue addressed directly some of those present. such as the second vice president of the Government and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, or Pedro Almodóvar, among others.

He has also referred to the director Carlos Vermut, recently accused of sexual violence by some of the actresses with whom he has worked. Precisely in the 2023 edition, actress Jedet reported having suffered sexual assault at the party after the awards.

For this reason, the denunciation of this type of violence has been very present not only in the gala, but in the statements of the winners.

Special emphasis has been placed by the person responsible for ‘Querer’, a series that won in the drama category for addressing rape within marriage and whose protagonist, Nagore Aramburu, has also won her ‘little fox’ as a leading actress.

As Alauda herself explained in statements to Europa Press, there is a deep “respect” for a situation that is often “silenced”; something that he hopes will change from now on.

At this time, he noted, the audiovisual sector draws heavily on current society, which has placed consent at the center of the public debate, which is why he hopes that a new path will now open up.

LONELINESS AND REINVENTION IN ‘CELESTE’

In the comedy series category, ‘Celeste’, starring Carmen Machi, was the other big winner. For Diego San José, its creator, the challenge has been to transform into comedy the themes that the series truly addresses: loneliness, ageism and reinvention.

In this production, Carmen Machi plays a tax inspector who, shortly before her retirement, faces her last big case: an internationally famous singer who defrauds the Treasury.

Although it was not the first in the pools, the film ‘Salve María’ has won the ‘little fox’ for best dramatic film. The protagonists of the film, along with its director, Mar Coll, recognized it, overwhelmed and in tears.

The predictions have indeed been fulfilled with ‘Casa en Llamas’, best comedy film and which has also won a statuette for best script for Eduard Sola and best leading actress in a film for Emma Vilarasau.

ALMODÓVAR, VERY EXCITED

The same has happened with the award for best director, which went to Pedro Almodóvar for ‘The Room Next Door’. The man from La Mancha has highlighted the importance of receiving an award from the specialized press and has highlighted the “enormous” work of all his teammates this year.

Almodóvar has confessed that receiving the award for this film is very special because of the subject it deals with — two friends who are reunited with the terminal illness of one of them — “a death full of light, vitality,” and in the who has worked with Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore, “a luxury and a real spectacle”. “Sometimes I would end up so excited that I would go to the bathroom,” he said.

His work has also won the award for best original music, given by Alberto Iglesias. “In this film there are moments that words cannot describe and that is when the music comes into play,” he commented.

Pol López and Óscar de la Fuente have been awarded the Feroz Award for best supporting actor in a series and film, respectively. Pol López has won the award for best supporting actor in a series for ‘See you in another life’ and has emphasized the importance of the “decentralization” of this type of celebrations. “People enjoy it and we enjoy it,” he highlighted.

López was competing with other actors such as Miguel Bernardeau for ‘Querer’, Javier Gutiérrez for ‘El Caso Asunta’, Iván Pellicer for ‘Querer’ and Manolo Solo for ‘Celeste’.

For his part, Óscar de la Fuente won the award for best supporting film actor for ‘The House’. Enric Auquer for ‘Casa en llamas’, Julián López for ‘The flashes’, José Sacristán for ‘Escape’ and Alberto San Juan for ‘Casa en llamas’ were the rest of the nominees.

NORA NAVAS AND EDUARD FERNANDEZ

Nora Navas has won the recognition of best supporting actress in a series for ‘Yo, adicto’. In statements to Europa Press after collecting the statuette, Navas has claimed the importance of addressing addiction in audiovisuals. “We are all addicted to something,” he acknowledged.

In the series, Nora Navas plays the therapist at the detoxification center where she enters due to her drug addiction, Javi, played by Oriol Pla, who has also won his ‘little fox’ for best actor in a series.

Eduard Fernández has been awarded best film actor for his role in ‘Marco’, where he plays Enric Marco Batlle, a Spanish trade unionist who served as President of the Amical de Mauthausen of Spain. It was eventually discovered that he had falsified information in his biography to appear as a survivor of the Flossenburg concentration camp during WWII.

Fernández has been very proud of his statuette, especially because of the challenge that, he commented, it has posed not only on an interpretive level, but also on a physical level. Clara Segura won the Feroz for best film supporting actress for ‘El 47’. She was competing with Anna Castillo for ‘Escape’, Marina Guerola for ‘The Flashes’, María Rodríguez Soto for ‘Casa en llamas’ and Aixa Villagrán for ‘The Red Virgin’.

JAIME CHÁVARII, FIERCE OF HONOR

One of the most special moments of the night was the presentation of the Feroz de Honor to director Jaime Chávarri. The person responsible for emblematic films such as ‘Bicycles are not for summer’ has collected the award, very excited, from the hands of the actress Emma Suárez and one of his students at the film school.

CEREMONY IN PONTEVEDRA

The ‘boa vila’ was the other main protagonist of the night. All the winners and many of the attendees have been grateful for the loving treatment that the city has given them, in which during these last few months “they have breathed cinema.”
