They steal Romanian pieces valued at 6 million euros

The theft was committed on January 25 of the exhibition Dacia: Kingdom of Gold and Silver, With more than 600 ancient pieces-including a Golden Geto-Dacio helmet, known as the Cotofenesti helmet-brought from a dozen and a half of Romanian museums. In addition to that helmet, three gold bracelets disappeared.

The value of stolen objects is estimated at about 6 million eurossaid the television channel.

The DRENTHE RTV documents indicate that the estimate of the cost of the stolen gold helmet is 4.3 million euros, while the price of the bracelets would be around half a million euros for each.

Unique treasures

According to the NL Times news portal, the stolen pieces were unique archaeological treasures dating from the ancient Dacia, civilization that existed in the territory of the current Romania and was conquered by the Romans at the beginning of the second century DC.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Caspar Veldkamp, ​​held a telephone conversation with his Romanian counterpart on Saturday and promised to return the objects extracted from the museum to Romania. Dutch police are investigating the case.

Meanwhile, the Romanian Attorney General’s Office announced the beginning of a criminal investigation for the subtraction of the objects exposed in the Drets Museum.
