The physical theater play Not concrete It invites us to reflect on the contrasts of life in the neighborhoods of Mexico City. Starring actor Diego Martínez Villa, this production of rock theater leads us to tour the streets of childhood marked by the desires and the impact of violence.

The staging, written by Thelma Carrizosa, uses physical theater as a main vehicle, immersing the public in a story in which the bodies speak and the movement reveals emotions that words cannot express completely. The story tells the retrospective trip of a man who, when faced with a decisive moment in his life, returns to the streets where he grew to understand how his surroundings molded him.

In an interview, Diego Martínez Villa comments: “The character knows these two aspects, the violence with which he grew up and feels that he defines him, and his dreams, which also define him. In the background, in these violent spaces, where many have grown, people live and have a conscious or unconscious engine that leads to do things in the best way.

The actor indicated that the starting point of the scenic proposal was an image that reminds of his childhood. In the neighborhood where I grew up there was always something that hindered me to look at the sky: the light cables, the tux or buildings, and that feeling of how difficult it is to see the sky originated the work.

The single -person does not seek to offer easy answers, but to open a space for the public to reflect on the stories that are loaded from the neighborhoods. We are all part of the concrete, but also of dreams that manage to make their way between crackssaid Martínez Villa.

Not concretedirected by Barbara Alvarado, reflects the reality of the neighborhoods of Mexico City, but also opens a universal dialogue about the relationship between the environment and identity. The work shows how the streets, courts and alleys can witness the highest dreams and, at the same time, scenarios of the darkest moments.

Through physical theater, the assembly offers a scenic experience that goes beyond the narrative, inviting the public to live a story that feels as close as universal.

The work seeks to connect not only with regular audiences to the theater, but also with whom they inhabit the same neighborhoods that inspire this work. It is an invitation to look at our own stories and recognize the transforming power of art as a means to sublimize pain and build new paths.

There is something deeply beautiful in resenting with the streets that saw you grow, even if they bring shadows. This work is my way of dialogue with those places, with those memoirs and with all the beasts (human and non -human) that inhabit themMartínez shared.
