Maria Schrader will decide on the bears

The actress and director Maria Schrader will be sitting on the Berlin International Jury this year, which will decide on the silver and golden bears. Her tragicomedy “I am your person” ran in competition in 2021, the actress Maren Eggert had won a silver bear for her role. Internationally, Schrader made a name for himself with the mini series “Unorthodox” and the drama “She Said” about the investigative research in the Weinstein case.

In addition to the 59-year-old, there is also a second German in this year’s jury. Bina Daigeler has been one of the most renowned costume designers in the industry for over 30 years, she worked on the film “Tár” with Cate Blanchett, among others, with Ridley Scott, Pedro Almodóvar and most recently with the director Todd Field.

The Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing, who most recently was seen alongside Jessica Chastain in the action comedy “The 355”, and the French-Moroccan director Nabil Ayouch (“All Dear Toouda”) are seen. The International Jury complete the Argentine filmmaker Rodrigo Moreno and the American film critic Amy Nicholson. This year is the US director Todd Haynes (“May December”). The Berlinale will open on February 13th, and on February 22, the jury chose the winners.
