Filmmaker Christophe Ruggia was sentenced to sexual abuse on Monday in France. The case has been one of France’s most prominent #metoo trials.
Actor Adèle Haenel accused ruggia for abuse in the early 2000s. Haenel was 12-15 years old at the time of the event, Rugg under 40 years old.
The Guardian tells about this.
Ruggia received a four -year sentence but was not actually sentenced to imprisonment. He suffers for two years in a home arrest in an ankle collar and for two years as conditional.
“You used your power position in relation to the young actress,” the judge said at the end of the trial, according to AFP news agency.
Haenel, 35, received applause from the audience when she left the courtroom.
Adèle Haenel left the right after the judgment was released.
Exploitation started the movie Devils in descriptions. In the film, 12-year-old Haenel performed an autistic child who is incest with his brother. The exploitation continued for years after.
Devils Members of the film shooting group have said they have considered ruggia to be inappropriate. After the filming, Ruggia continued meetings with Haenel. At these meetings, he had touched Haenel inappropriately.
Haenel prosecuted ruggia in 2019. Ruggia has denied the charges and plans to complain about the sentence.
In 2023, Adèle Haenel announced that it would end acting as a protest against the French film industry from a culture that has tacitly allowed sexual abuse. Haenel has been awarded with two César awards called French Oscars.
