Exhibitions, “Mario Pomilio and writers” from Saturday to March 1st in Naples

 

Saturday 8 February at 10.30, in the Martucci room of the S. Pietro a Majella Conservatory, the presentation of the exhibition “Mario Pomilio and the writers” will be held. Once can be visited until 1 March, the exhibition is organized by the National Committee for the centenary celebrations of the birth of Mario Pomilio. The event, edited by Giorgio Tabanelli, in collaboration with the Michele Prisco Study Center and the children of the writers, has the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Conservatory and the Naples Prize Foundation. The exhibition intends to pay homage to Mario Pomilio, professor of poetic and dramatic literature at the Conservatory of Naples, starting from 1964, and to the writers with whom he shared a long friendship relationship and started a human and literary partnership: Carlo Bo , Michele Prisco, Domenico Rea, Luigi Compagnone and Raffaele La Capria. The director of the Conservatory, Gaetano Panariello, President Carla Ciccarelli, the curator of the exhibition with the children of the writers, Prof. Gabriele Frasca who will talk about “Pomilio and the writers” will be present at the inauguration.

At the end of the presentation, the documentary “Mario Pomilio, witness of the twentieth century” by Giorgio Taba, made and produced with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture as an initiative of the National Committee of the Centenary of the birth, will be screened. The visit to the exhibition to be held at the Rossini room will follow. The path opens with some works and documents of the critic Carlo Bo who followed and encouraged not only the poetic and romance writing of Pomilio, but was the critic friend on which Prisco, Rea, Compagnone, La Capria, were able to count. The exhibition documents the works published by the writers, the epistolary exchanges, the reviews of Bo and the critical colleagues, the literary magazines, including “the narrative reasons”, published by the publisher Pironti, born thanks to the fraternal climate of friendship experienced by Authors, of which the different themes of writing are documented and, in particular, the love for the city of Naples.

Saturday 1 March, in the Martucci room, the closing ceremony will be held with the participation of the authorities and children of the writers. Prof. Paola Villani will talk about “Pomilio and the writers” with a reflection on the value and implications of a long friendship and a partnership that deeply characterized the history of Naples and the Italian literature of the twentieth century. At the end of the presentation, the documentary Michele Prisco, the lord of the novel by Giorgio Taba, will be screened.
