Conductor Daniel Barenboim suffers from Parkinson’s culture

The conductor Daniel Barenboim has had to cancel performances again and again for about three years. Now he announced that he is suffering from Parkinson’s disease that causes movement disorders, equilibrium problems and muscle stiffness. “With a view to the future, I plan to maintain as many of my professional obligations as possible. If I am unable to appear, then because my health does not allow me, ”he writes in the current explanation. He sees the Western Easters Divan Orchestra he co-founded in 1999 with Israeli and Palestinian musicians as his most important responsibility: “It is very important to me to ensure the long-term stability and development of the orchestra.” He will continue to conduct the ensemble whenever it allows health. “At the same time, I will actively work to ensure that the divan can also work with other excellent conductors in the future.”
