Berlin: Linguist Seyfeddinipur fights against the disappearance of languages

There are 7000 languages ​​in the world, and by the end of the century 1500 of them will probably have disappeared. The linguist Mandana Seyfeddinipur collects particularly endangered in an archive.

The “World Day of the Torgunia” called for by UNESCO will be celebrated this Friday. Around 7,000 languages ​​are spoken in the world today. They have their own grammar, which sometimes does not require conjugations for the future, is terribly complicated with 15 different cases. They have a vocabulary that reveals a lot about the living conditions of the speakers, precise descriptions of the sea, different expressions for the consistency of snow. They show an enormous variety – which is extremely threatened. By the end of this century, scientists estimate that 1,500 languages ​​will have disappeared. And with it also 1,500 species to look at the world.
