Portable opera celebrates 10 years with the sight of offering deep experiences

Portable opera, recognized as one of the most avant -garde groups of that genre in the country, will celebrate its tenth anniversary with the artistic residence of opera and other creatures, which began last Saturday at the El Galeón El Galeón Theater Abraham Oceransky of the Cultural Center of the Forest ( CCB).

The commemorative program includes six productions, ranging from great hits to premieres. Among the works that will be presented stand out The day Maria lost her voice, the fireflies do not fly, Apoidea y Of crickets and chicharras, Children’s operas that have marked a before and after in the company’s trajectory.

Productions address issues such as the importance of listening, the struggle for dreams and reflection on migration.

The anniversary also celebrates a milestone with the premiere of two new interdisciplinary productions: Illuminations, inspired by Life is a dream, of Calderón de la Barca, which offers a reinterpretation of the classic from the perspective of Rosaura, heroin of the work; and Opera dreams, Cavilaciones around youth yearnings and artistic vocation, which also functions as a musical retrospect for the work done by the scenic collective.

This latest production reviews fragments and arias of previous operas, such as Frida’s letters y Zoórper, while telling the history of the creation of a company that has been key in the evolution of the national operatic scene.

Jomi Delgado, artistic director and portable opera composer, highlighted the meaning of these montages as a look that covers the past and future of those works in the country: They allow us to explore new ways of telling stories, by merging music, theater, technology and visual arts.

In an interview with The day, Catalina Pereda, who also leads the company, said that its purpose has been to create accessible operas that also address universal and timeless issues of human experience. We want each of our operas to offer a deep experience, both for children and adultshe said.

As part of the complementary activities of the portable opera residence, retrospective exposure will be presented in the same forum, cured by Enrique García Aguinaco.

The exhibition offers a detailed vision of the creative process of the company, allowing visitors to explore key moments of its trajectory through sketches, scores, photographs, informative notes, changing rooms and other documents that reveal the effort and dedication invested in creation in creation of each staging.

The residence will become a space for reflection and learning, with two work tables on contemporary opera and an incubation workshop aimed at aspiring and young professionals from the performing arts, music and literature. In three modules, participants will explore the complete process of creating one of these works, from their conception to their musical, acting and scenic development.

We intend to treat children as intelligent and critical beings, capable of capturing layers of meaning in the works. In addition, the company is dedicated to strengthening the connection between generations, since children usually attend accompanied by adults, which creates a shared and enriching experience for all.

As part of its vision of expansion and preservation of the legacy, portable opera will also launch its first record volume in collaboration with Urtext Digital Classics. Opera dreams It can be enjoyed from March 20 to 23, with different times. The work explores the trajectory of a soprano and the challenges he faces in the cultural world. Illuminations It will arrive on the scene from March 6 to 9 with a proposal that questions the memory, identity and dreams that define us.
