It is titled ‘The Word in the Palace’, a text that offers meditations and reflections, short and punctual, aimed at all those who live their existence in political commitment and public administration. Born from the experience of two local administrators of Roma Capitale, Alessandro Alongi and Fabio Pompei, the book offers itself as a support tool for all the Catholics who dedicate themselves to the good of the community daily, responding to the need to bring the size of the service to the center of the civic commitment. The volume presents itself as a guide designed to guide political and administrative action to the values of justice, humility and social solidarity, inspired by the Gospel and Christian teaching, always putting the person’s choices, especially the most vulnerable.

The work is divided into six chapters, each of which faces a phase or aspect of public life, enriched by references to the scriptures and practical reflections of the life of the saints, useful for facing daily challenges. Rich in the experience of the Church, the book invites readers to consider their commitment as a vocation at the service of the common good, putting the social justice and attention to others at the center. Each chapter focuses on a stage of the political journey from discernment on the authenticity of the ‘call’ politics, to the decision to apply and live the path once elected or appointed, up to the tools necessary to live the public commitment with a Christian gaze, ending with useful reflections in support of moments of difficulty and for those who are preparing to conclude their assignment.

Inspired by the teachings especially of the Gospel and other great witnesses of the faith, this volume offers concrete ideas for those who wish to combine faith and action in their path of public commitment, facing daily challenges with a renewed spirit and a perspective oriented to the good of the community.
