Bernd Ebert is supposed to be the head of Saxony’s art collections

The art historian Bernd Ebert is to become general director of the State Art Collections Dresden (SKD). According to dpa information, the Saxon cabinet deals with the personnel in its meeting on Tuesday and still has to agree.

For the afternoon, the Ministry of Culture invited to the “appointment of the new general directorate” – in the successor of Marion Ackermann, the President of the Prussian Cultural Culture Foundation in Berlin. Deutschlandfunk previously reported on the personnel, citing government circles.

Ebert, born in 1972, is currently heading the collection for Dutch and German baroque painting at the Alte Pinakothek Munich. According to Deutschlandfunk, he worked and curated, among other things, for museums in South Africa, Asia, Europe and the USA and was also responsible for international relations at the General Director of the State Museums in Berlin. In 2013 he moved to the Bavarian State Painting Collections.
