More than half of the French go to the cinema at least three times a year, according to a survey

More than half of French people (54 %) go to the cinema at least three times a year, according to a survey by the Ipsos Institute quoted by France Inter. On the other hand, 18 % never go. If the French remain attached to the dark rooms, seven out of 10 people say that a reduction in the price of places would encourage them to go there more.

What do spectators see? In the lead, the genre of comedy appears (54 %), in front of action, adventure films (48 %) and finally thrillers (32 %). American feature films are acclaimed (36 % of favorite films), just behind French films (31 %). This survey comes as the gratin of French cinema has an appointment this Friday evening at the Olympia, in Paris, for the 50th César ceremony.

A third of respondents will look at the César ceremony

An event that will be followed by more than a third of respondents (38 %). Seven out of 10 French people do not know which films are named. Regarding the winners, the suspense remains whole. But the César have something to reconnect with the general public and the more popular films.

 

According to respondents, it is “the count of Monte-Cristo” (69 %) who deserves the most to win the César, far ahead “Émilia Perez” (10 %), “Banned” (9 %), “The History of Souleymane” (8 %) and “Mercy” (4 %). However, not all people have seen all the films.

Another opinion, among the 12 personalities appointed for the César for best actor, Pierre Niney deserves the most to win the award deemed 51 % of those questioned.

As a reminder, the French actor had already won the César for best actor before 10 years ago for his interpretation in the biopic “Yves Saint Laurent” by Jalil Lespert. He remains the youngest winner to have won him in his category (25 years). This survey was carried out with a sample of 1,000 people representative of the French population aged 18 to 75.
