Estela Chocarro publishes the ‘psychological thriller’ the woman of the swamp ‘

The Navarra Writer Estela Chocarro, winner of the XXV Francisco Pavón Award of a police novel in 2023, publishes the ‘psychological thriller’ the woman of the swamp ‘, a game of unfolding in a story full of turns starring Dorotea’s granddaughter and the tenant of her grandmother, a renowned writer to which she may have replaced.

Edited by Roca Editorial, by Penguin Random House, the work, which will be available from this Thursday, March 6, tells the story of how the death of Dorotea and the desire to disappear propitiate the return of his granddaughter to the small town of Lanuza.

Far from finding a friendly atmosphere, the granddaughter suffers the suspicion of the neighbors of Lanuza and the tenant of her grandmother, a renowned writer with a reputation to shun society, has disappeared leaving all her belongings behind.

The curiosity and desire to scare away their ghosts awaken in Dorotea’s granddaughter the impulse to appropriate the life of the writer in a fusion of identities that seems to have begun before, even, of her arrival in the town.

‘Who really is the woman who occupies the floor above? Is it the granddaughter of Dorotea or the famous writer? Is it true that someone observes all their movements? ‘ These are the questions that the reader is asked in this new novel by Estela Chocarro, a graduate in advertising and public relations from the Complutense University of Madrid.

Natural de Cárcar (Navarra), Chocarro set up his first three novels – ‘The next funeral will be yours’ (2014), ‘Nobody has died in the cathedral’ (2016) and ‘I will give you a kiss before he died’ (2017) – in his homeland. He has also participated in three anthologies: ‘Cartagena Negra’, ‘The soul of wine’ and ‘The invisible evil’.

In 2023 he won the Francisco García Pavón Award with his until then the latest novel, ‘The bad wife’, a story of appearances, distrust and miseries of unhappy couples that portrays real people and dysfunctional couples.
