Oscars 2025: anatomy of a failed appointment for “Emilia Pérez”

Two Oscars for thirteen nominations. Admittedly, the awards awarded, this Sunday, March 2, to Zoe Saldaña (best actress in a supporting role) and to the duo of composers Camille and Clément Ducol (best song for “El Mal”) are magnificent, but the results for “Emilia Pérez” is quite skinny. And the film of the film had to spend a funny end of the evening at the Dolby Theater of Hollywood by seeing the filmmaker Sean Baker (best original scenario, editing, director, and film) and the actress Mikey Madison (best actress) get up again and again to go and get their awards for “Anora”, big winner of the evening.

It is 10 p.m. Sunday evening in Los Angeles (United States) when Jacques Audiard meets a handful of French journalists who await him at the back of a stand-up room on Sunset Boulevard. He arrives with, in hand, the Oscar awarded to Camille’s best song and Clément Ducol – he collaborated in the writing of this song, “El Mal”.
