Alain Delon, Bertrand Blier, Shannen Doherty… The forgotten tribute to the missing from the Oscars

Many media have noticed some regrettable omissions during the sequence dedicated to the missing, entitled “In memory” During the big Hollywood evening.

A slight discomfort was installed during the 97e Oscar ceremony. If the ceremony rewards those who shone in the cinema during the year, it also pays tribute to the missing who marked the big and the small screen. However, several figures of the seventh art were not even mentioned during the tribute to the missing of 2024, “In memory” broadcast during the evening.

This nostalgic part was unfortunately not controversial. Indeed, several actors and actresses have been forgotten, including Alain Delon. Disappeared on August 18, 2024, the French actor did not appear in the video broadcast during the Oscar ceremony. An absence that can be explained since Alain Delon did not have in the United States the same notoriety as in France. Although the latter was appointed to the Golden Globes for the male revelation of the year in 1964 for its role in The cheetahhe was later never appointed during an American award ceremony.

It doesn’t stop there, stars Shannen Doherty (Charmed) et Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy against vampires) have been omitted. Like Tony Todd, Chance Perdomo, Tony Roberts, Linda Lavin, James Darren, Mitzi Gaynor, Martin Mull or Olivia Hussey, as well as the directors Morgan Spurlock and Jim Abrahams. The Academy of Oscars also forgot the French director Bertrand Blier, however distinguished in 1979 in the category “Best foreign film”. He then won the Oscar for his dramatic comedy Prepare your handkerchiefs.

Among the names that paraded on the screen under the moved views of the spectators, we find in particular David Lynch, Maggie Smith or Gene Hackman. The exceptional career of the multi-oscientary actor, found dead alongside his wife last week, was greeted by Morgan Freeman, who worked with him on him Ruthless (1992) et Suspicion (2000). The Oscar ceremony also paid tribute to the musician Quincy Jones, who received a posthumous Oscar of honor in 2024.
