Andrea’s grandfather, Cosimo, born Pastore, learns to read and write during the captivity that becomes his fortune: that ‘grandfather’s cellmate’ of which he heard in the Polo family changes his life, allowing him to make a competition at the State Railways and to become a driver. In 1910 he became a father and from here originated this engaging and fun journey, of personal experiences and choices that are reflected in subsequent generations.

Andrea, a backpack on his shoulder full of memories and anecdotes, walks with his children Marco and Giovanni on the path of many lives that led him to be what he is, telling him the profession of parent, as beautiful as it is difficult. He takes them by the hand and, giving up on memories, those lived together and those known through the stories of others, gives him the history of his family.

A paternity told even retracing difficult and always exciting moments such as when Cosimo, who became a railway worker and widowed very soon, manages to grow his 11 children, in a social and cultural context very different from what we know today.

Among those 11, so different from each other – from the rebel Natalina to the passionate Nino, there is Marco, the father of Andrea, who makes his way around the world as a well -established doctor but above all as a father, in spite of his very serious profession, always present and fun, able to support his children, with the courage to do it while necessary, when necessary, a step back.
