Philosopher Jürgen Habermas exclusively: an appeal for Europe

Nas if the decisive national politicians of the West-and in the further sense of the G-7 countries-have seamlessly agreed in their political perspectives; But they have always shared the common understanding of their belonging to “the” West under the leadership of the United States. This political size has decayed with Donald Trump’s recent government and the system change in the USA, even if NATO fate is still an open question for the time being. From a European point of view, this break has profound consequences – both for the further course and a possible end of the war in Ukraine, as well as for the need, the willingness and the ability of the European Union to find a saving answer to the new situation. Otherwise, Europe will also get into the strudel of the descending superpower.
