The Royal Palace of Madrid reopens the public the antisacristy and sacristic of the Royal Chapel

National Heritage He has opened on Wednesday to the public the preventedness and sacristy of the Royal Palace of Madrid which had remained outside the tourist tour for more than forty years. Both spaces are included in The visit of the palace, both in guidance and free and have museum support.

According to National Heritage, the reopening of the Above acrysty and sacristy It will allow the visitor to explore the real chapel in a more contextualized way and discover the spaces in which the trades were prepared and the liturgical objects were guarded. The previous one houses a source of the 18th century, an Elizabethan mirror and neo -Gothic style seats. In the showcases, several elements of the Royal Chapel are exposed, such as a dalmatic – type of liturgical clothing – a game of candlesticks and altar cross or a baptizing game of the early nineteenth century.

Religious theme paintings made by different schools are also exhibited. In the space of the sacristy several sculptures of the 18th century are exposed, such as ‘The Immaculate Conception’, by Manuel Álvarez, El Greek, or the delicate group of ‘The Fall of Christ’, sculpted in ivory by Celedonio Nicolás de Arce.

In painting ‘Christ and La Samaritana’ stand out, by Orazio Gentileschi; ‘San José with El Niño’, by Antonio de Pereda; ‘Dead Christ cried for two angels’, by Charles Le Brun, and ‘Christ served by Los Angeles’, by Pablo de Céspedes.

With the incorporation of the pre -Christia and the sacristy to the tourist tour, National Heritage continues with its policy of opening new spaces to visitors, as it has done during the last months in the monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial or the Royal Palace of the farm of San Ildefonso. The Royal Palace of Madrid, with its annual million and a half million visitors, is the most visited monument of national heritage.
