Jackie Buet has had to reassure a lot of people in recent weeks and until recent days. “We have received many support brands,” says the founder and director of the International Women’s Film Festival (FIFF) in Créteil (Val-de-Marne). The 47th edition of this reference event of the 7th art will take place from April 4 to 12, but not in the format planned until last month.
In early February, the announcement of the Val-de-Marne Departmental Council made to the festival management had caused a stir. The subsidy that she usually granted to him – no less than 100,000 euros per edition, or almost a quarter of the festival budget – was not going to be renewed this year. The department then highlighted “uncertainties linked to financial viability and human resources of the festival”.
