The painter with visual disabilities José Valcárcel Ausín uses AI in his exhibition ‘Search’, in Madrid

The painter with visual disabilities José Valcárcel Ausín has resorted to artificial intelligence (AI) during the creative process of his exhibition ‘Search’, which consists of 12 paintings that can be seen until June 7 at the Tiflological Museum of the ONCE in Madrid.

The Madrid Valcárcel Ausín (1955) approached art during his childhood through drawing and in his youth began to relate to painting. Of self -taught training, there are many artists who influence their work, such as Miguel Ángel, Leonardo da Vinci and, especially, Diego Velázquez. In 2005, he joined the eleven.

In his paintings he shows his ideas, which reflects from the drawing until he reaches the final work. For years he has resorted to his own drawings, but, at present, Valcárcel Ausín has incorporated AI tools into some parts of his creative process, since he allows many artistic possibilities by adding or eliminating elements or transforming them at will.

‘Search’ is a look at the pictorial universe of Valcárcel Ausín who, in addition to painting, dialogues with his own history, his dreams and his perception of reality. The works he shows in the typhlological museum are a visual story that reveals the evolution of an artist convinced of his trade.
