Salman Rushdie will publish a fictional book three years after his assault

The author of Satanic verses had been attacked on the knife on August 12, 2022 in the northeast of the United States. His new work, The Eleventh Houris his first fictional work since the attack, and will appear on November 4, announced its publisher.

Its publisher announced this Thursday. The American-British writer Salman Rushdie will publish in November a collection of short stories, his first fictional book since the attack on the knife which cost him the use of his right eye in 2022. The work entitled The Eleventh Hour (The eleventh hour) Compiles five short stories and short stories that take place in the three countries in which he has lived, India of which he is native, the United Kingdom, and the United States where he now lives, according to the Penguin Random House editions.

A volume of three news

This is a “Collection of moving and masterful news that transports us around the world, districts of Bombay to the prestigious English universities ”and whose release is scheduled for November 4, said the publisher in a statement on Thursday.

“The three news of this volume, all written in the last twelve months, explore themes and places that occupy my mind – mortality, Bombay, farewell, England (especially Cambridge), anger, peace, America”explains the 77 -year -old author, quoted in the press release. “I am happy that these stories, very different from each other by their decor, their narration and their technique, nevertheless manage to dialogue between them and with the two stories which serve as a prologue and epilogue to this trio”added Salman Rushdie.

The author of “Satanic verses”a work which had earned him a fatwa from the Islamic Republic of Iran, which judged the blasphemous book was earned more than thirty years ago, was attacked on August 12, 2022 in the northeast of the United States. He had been struck with several stab wounds by an American-Lebanese found guilty in February at attempted murder. He had made it the story in an autobiographical book published in 2024, entitled The knife.
