Exhibition dedicated to Mario Schifano, in Rome from 3 April

Casa Monti and the Eddart Rome Gallery, located at Palazzo Orsini Taverna and specialized in modern and contemporary Italian art, present their first collaboration from 3 April to 30 May 2025, dedicated to one of the most influential Italian artists Mario Schifano.

A selection of “TV landscapes” will be presented, works that were born in the late sixties/early seventies when painting seemed to have reached a stalemate. In this context, the artist discovered new tools that would revolutionize his creative approach: the camera and, above all, television.

The televisions, always turned on in his studio, incessantly broadcast a flow of images – news, nudes, initials of programs, landscapes, wars and faces. In this visual context, Schifano found his voice, capable of translating the speed and variety of the outside world into works of art.

In an era in which the images are more accessible than ever, Schifano’s art reveals a surprising topicality, inviting to consider our relationship with the visual world that surrounds us. It is therefore an invitation to reflect on the inevitable interaction between art and technology, a theme that continues to be crucial in our contemporary society.
