Queen Sofia reconvisages the auditorium of the Sabatini building in a cinema after 9 months of works

Reina Sofía Museum The former auditorium of the Sabatini building has converted in a projection room, after adaptation works that have lasted nine months and have led to an investment of 856,000 euros from the Recovery plan.

Thus, the Pinacoteca opens the room, which has a capacity for 133 spectators, on April 10. The works have consisted of carrying out actions in furniture and acoustics, as well as modifying the slope of the room for projections, and making space completely accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Under the name of ‘Cine, Year Zero. Images of our time ‘, Queen Sofia inaugurates the room with a cycle for “rethink the form and cinematographic discourse to respond to a new sensitivity in our historical moment“.

All the films presented are “key” works of the 21st century and the program takes place in monographic weeks dedicated to different themes and filmmakers.

The first projection will be the ‘The Ritual of the cinema’ by Tsai Ming-Liang; then that of ‘Goodbye, Dragon Inn’, also from Ming-Liang; And then ‘Dragon Inn’ by King Hu, ‘Film under digital anxiety’, ‘Eight postcards from utopia’ and ‘Nu alept prea mult of the Sfâritul Lumii’ by Radu Jude.

Then, they will follow the titles like ‘Cine to feel the world’ of Ana Vaz, ‘Bomba Bernal’ by Khavn of the Cross, ‘Communities to come’ by Anna Cornudella,
