After six months of hearings, the observation of the commission of inquiry into gender -based and sexual violence in culture in France was published.
Actress Judith Godrèche judged that the report of the commission of inquiry on gender -based and sexual violence in the culture made public this Wednesday after six months of hearings was “impressive” et “Quite terrifying”on franceinfo.
The actress, who had called for the creation of this commission, added that she was however “No surprised” of son «constat terrible» and called on the political world to seize it so that “No one can say ‘we didn’t know'”.
“The abuses of power are the same (…) as in the church as in schools, etc.”
After six months of hearings, the observation of the members of this body is final: “Moral, sexist and sexual violence in the world of culture are systemic, endemic and persistent”writes her president, the environmentalist Sandrine Rousseau, in this document which delivers nearly 90 recommendations to brake “The machine to grind talents”. “The report of this commission of inquiry shows that the problem is absolutely not linked to the world of cinema and, moreover, that cinema is a large incestuous family and that the power relationship and the abuse of power are the same (…) as in the Church as in schools, etc.”continued Judith Godrèche.
Asked about one of the recommendations of parliamentarians, that of registering in the code of criminal procedure an obligation for employers to report the facts of VHSS (violence and sexist and sexual harassment) brought to their attention, Judith Godrèche approved, stressing the need “May people who have the most power on a set take the distress of those who have the least”. The actress became the spearhead of Metoo in France after having accused the director Benoît Jacquot, 25 years older, with whom she had a relationship when she was 14 years old. She brought similar charges against the filmmaker Jacques Doillon. Surveys are underway and the two men dispute these allegations.
