The President of the Republic went up on the towers of Notre-Dame de Paris this Friday, September 19, watch their reopening to the public.

424 steps to admire a breathtaking view of the capital, surrounded by stone gargoyles. Emmanuel Macron went up on the roof of Notre-Dame de Paris this Friday to celebrate the reopening of the cathedral towers. The President of the Republic was filmed strolling at the top of the building alongside Philippe Jost, manager of the reconstruction site since the death of General Georgelin in 2023.

From Saturday, the public will be able to go to the top of the Tours again, completely restored after the fire having ravaged the cathedral on April 15, 2019. The route of the tour of the towers was completely reorganized. The circuit of about 45 minutes starts with the southern tower with a rise in the belfry, previously invisible, thanks to the construction of a large double revolution staircase in solid oak.

400,000 visitors per year maximum

The visitor then accesses the terraces which culminate at 69 meters, then discovers the two main bells of the cathedral, including Emmanuel, of a weight greater than 13 tonnes, which ring only for major events. The route then goes through the courtyard courtyard, which separates the two towers and allows you to take a look at the “forest”, the frame rebuilt after being devastated by the flames. The descent is made by the North Tower.

A gauge limits 400,000 the number of visitors authorized each year to access the route, while around 30,000 people enter the Gothic building every day. The cathedral visit is free but that of the towers costs 16 euros.
