Sonae Sierra publishes the book ‘My inner wind’ to benefit the Aladina Foundation to support minors with cancer

Sonae Sierra has presented ‘My inner wind’, a solidarity story that invites boys and girls to look inward, recognize their emotions and learn to live with them as part of their personal development, on the occasion of World Children’s Day, which is celebrated every November 20.

With this work, written and illustrated by the artist Tania Izquierdo and printed by the Edelvives publishing house, Sonae Sierra will allocate 100% of the proceeds to the Aladina Foundation, in support of children and adolescents with cancer and their families.

A total of 9,000 units of the book will go on sale, which will be available in the Sonae Sierra shopping centers – Área Sur (Jerez de la Frontera), GranCasa (Zaragoza), Luz del Tajo (Toledo), Plaza Mayor (Málaga), Max Center (Baracaldo) and Valle Real (Santander) – during the month of December. These centers will be solidarity points of sale, making it possible for the story to reach hundreds of families throughout the country.

“At Sonae Sierra we firmly believe in the responsibility we have as a company to contribute to the well-being of the communities in which we operate. This story represents our commitment to children and to the promotion of values such as empathy, respect and hope. Through this action we reinforce our social vocation and our support for initiatives that generate a real positive impact on people,” highlighted Sierra’s Property Management director for Spain and Portugal, Alberto Bravo.

‘My inner wind’ tells the story of a girl who lives with an invisible wind, which symbolizes her emotions and thoughts, and of a small hummingbird that represents her inner voice. Through these elements, the protagonist learns that her chaos is not a defect, but rather her particular way of expressing herself.

According to its author, Tania Izquierdo, “this story aims to be a space of calm and connection. A story that accompanies children and families in the discovery of what they feel, helping them to put words, colors or sounds to their emotions. It does not seek to teach, but to listen.”

The book has been conceived as an emotional and creative tool for families, educators and psychologists. Its shared reading helps to work on self-esteem, empathy, anxiety, high sensitivity or neurodivergence, promoting emotional dialogue and mutual understanding.

“I wanted to create a story that talked about healing from tenderness, about learning to look inward and find beauty even in what we sometimes find difficult to accept,” added the author. For this reason, the style of the illustrations is built using digital brushes that imitate watercolor, a technique recognized for its watered-down colors and the use of glazes.

The publication of ‘My inner wind’ is part of Sonae Sierra’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, which promotes initiatives with real impact in the communities where it operates. Through cultural and solidarity projects, the company promotes sustainable development, social well-being and emotional education, using its shopping centers as spaces for meeting, learning and mutual support.

In this context, the collaboration with Fundación Aladina reinforces Sonae Sierra’s purpose of rising above the commercial level, betting on actions that inspire and transform.

“For the Aladina Foundation it is a privilege to be able to count on such generous and supportive collaborators. Actions like this encourage us to continue working every day to improve the lives of children and adolescents with cancer and their families and to be able to expand our programs and works in hospitals throughout Spain,” added the president of the Aladina Foundation, Paco Arango.
