Minister of State for Culture Wolfram Weimer has declared that he will sell his shares in the Weimer Media Group and hand them over to a trustee. Previously, criticism of him had become increasingly louder: he could not be Germany’s most powerful media politician and at the same time co-owner of a media company. Although Weimer transferred management of the “Weimer Media Group” to his wife at the beginning of his term in office, he still holds 50 percent of the company and could therefore personally benefit from his actions as Minister of State, a classic conflict of interest.
