“The calendar does not suit us”: the “Additional investigation” on CNews makes France 2 cringe

A timing that is not unanimous, even at France Télé. Barring a last minute twist, France 2 will broadcast this Thursday, November 27, a new issue of “Complément d’investigation” dedicated to CNews, which has become the leading news channel in France.

Lilya Melkonian, journalist from the editorial staff of the magazine presented by Tristan Waleckx, has been working on this investigation since the beginning of 2025. In March, she was filming sequences at the Paris courthouse. Following the conviction on appeal of Jean-Marc Morandini to two years in prison for corruption of minors, the reporter collected testimonies from victims of the man who has become one of the channel’s flagship hosts.

“We have internal testimonies. In front of the camera, we have a journalist who resigned who explains to us how he was asked, for example, during the 2021-2022 presidential campaign to very clearly favor Éric Zemmour. (…) The news director of CNews told him Now we’re only going to do muslim, muslim, muslim’ (Muslim) “, explained Tristan Waleckx on Thursday November 20 in an interview with Radio Nova.

But now, this issue will be broadcast at the time when a commission of inquiry into the neutrality, operation and financing of public broadcasting opens in the National Assembly. Wanted by Éric Ciotti after the Legrand/Cohen affair, this commission begins its work this Tuesday, November 25, with the hearing of Martin Ajdari, the new boss of Arcom.

At Bolloré, we bet that Delphine Ernotte will veto this broadcast

“The calendar of Further investigation really doesn’t suit us…”, grits his teeth an executive of the public group, who knows that this program will cause a lot of talk and risks being taken over by the deputies of Les Républicains, of the National Rally or of the Union of Rights for the Republic, Éric Ciotti’s movement.

If this “Additional investigation” is not unanimous among the management of France Télévisions, it is also because the public group announced last week that it was filing a complaint against CNews, Europe 1 and JDD, all belonging to the Bolloré group, for “denigration”.

“One Tuesday, they attack us for denigration and the following Tuesday they broadcast an incriminating program. They are weird,” we joke in the corridors of this same Bolloré group, where we bet that Delphine Ernotte will veto this broadcast. What the leader had not done for the issue on her supervisory minister Rachida Dati, any more than on the one devoted to Alexis Kohler, the former secretary general of the Élysée under Emmanuel Macron. “Delphine Ernotte never sees the subjects before they are broadcast. She doesn’t validate them, she trusts her teams,” we whisper in the group.

In the meantime, Tristan Waleckx is trying to convince the stars of CNews to come and respond to the subject, in the red armchairs sequence which ends his show. According to our information, journalists Pascal Praud, Sonia Mabrouk, Christine Kelly, Gauthier Le Bret and their boss Serge Nedjar were contacted. To date, everyone has declined the offer.
