The choreographer Francisco Córdova poses in They stayed with us a mosaic of fragmented narratives that explore the essence of life through its voids and fullness.

The work will be presented at the National Center for the Arts (Cenart) from November 28 to 30.

The Contemporary Dance Production Center (Ceprodac), directed by Cecilia Lugo, will perform this piece about voids, absences, ephemeral loves, abandonments and death.

For the creator, They stayed with us It is a mirror where the stories that make us up and the indelible marks left on us by those who are no longer here are reflected. In the performing process, Córdova explores how the body still keeps memory of what no longer exists.

In an interview, the director of Ceprodac, Cecilia Lugo, commented that the work is “very well constructed, with an interesting dramaturgy about painful situations, but that does not fall into melodrama.

“It is a look at something very warm, but at the same time it is not necessarily too explicit. It has the value of touching your heart, your gut, and very few works can do that; in this case, maestro Francisco achieves it.”

The performers delve into the emotional and the movement becomes memory; Each gesture rewrites the history of the absent. In the end, the work invites the viewer to contemplate the fragility of existence and the beauty that emerges from memory.

Since its creation, Ceprodac has worked with creators who have enriched the training of its members. “Each choreographer who arrives shares his personal work of experimentation with the dancers and each one brings their own languages of movement.”

He added that all choreographers invited by the company are given space “to explore what they need and we support it.”

Founded in 2011, Ceprodac promotes the development of contemporary dance in Mexico through processes of creation, research and dance experimentation, in addition to promoting the search for choreographic languages that provoke significant experiences, as well as reflection and aesthetic joy.

They stayed with us It will be presented from November 28 to 30 at the Cenart Arts Theater (79 Río Churubusco Avenue, corner of Tlalpan Road), with performances on Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m.
