Two years after a conviction for rape and aggravated violence which Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred appealed, his alleged victim is suspected of having tried to extort three million euros from her so that she would withdraw her accusations, we learned on Tuesday from a judicial source.
The 29-year-old woman is summoned before the Paris criminal court for having “asked Saad Lamjarred, through his manager, to pay the sum of three million euros, to withdraw his rape accusations or not appear at the hearing before the Assize Court”said this source. Saad Lamjarred was able to foil this blackmail attempt by reporting the facts to the police.

Four alleged accomplices are also summoned in this case, in particular the mother of the young woman, a lawyer or even an influencer, in particular for “attempted extortion” et “criminal association”. The singer was to be retried last June in Créteil, but the hearing was postponed, without specifying a date.

Contacted by AFP, the young woman’s lawyers, Me David Chemmi and Me Victorien De Faria, did not respond. “These new elements weaken the credibility of the civil party and consequently the prosecution before the Créteil Assize Court”Saad Lamjarred’s lawyers, Zoé Royaux and Laurent Simeray, told AFP.
The singer was sentenced at first instance to six years in prison by the Paris Assize Court in 2023, found guilty of having raped and hit in 2016, in a hotel room, a young woman he met in a Parisian nightclub. The accused had proclaimed his innocence and denied having had a sexual relationship with the young woman, aged 20 at the time of the incident.
The accused must also be tried by the Var Assize Court in Draguignan from December 1 for almost identical facts that occurred in Saint-Tropez in 2018. Very popular in Morocco and in the Arab world, the 40-year-old singer has also been implicated in the past for rape in similar circumstances in New York and in Casablanca, Morocco.
