HS asked Spotify for a comment on the matter. The company’s communications director responsible for Nordic affairs Julia Lavender responds by email and says that the company does not comment on details related to employees.
Levander does not say in more detail how the curation of Finnish music will take place from now on.
“We remain committed to supporting local music through our editorial ecosystem, playlist recommendations and artist tools. We will not be removing local playlists or programs,” Levander writes.
Spotify has had a few employees in Finland, only one of whom has compiled recommendation lists.
