We begin immediately with Di Maio, one of his favorite ‘victims’, who arrives in the desert for the mission in the Persian Gulf and is welcomed by an Arab: “And this is the desert, consider that your kiosk would be the only one in the area”, he tells him, with a clear reference to the profession of ‘drink maker’ carried out by Di Maio at the beginning of his career. Federico Palmaroli aka Osho presents his latest book, ‘Awanagana‘, in a packed Mondadori bookshop at the Alberto Sordi Gallery in Rome: 160 cartoons for the now usual Christmas present which retraces the highlights of the last year between politics and society, seasoned with the irony of the 52-year-old Roman cartoonist. And while the mayor of Rome Gualtieri appears inside a bus of the capital stopped in the workshop (“These buses are too beautiful, I don’t want to let people get on them”), Fassino walks through the streets of Rome: “Attention pickpocket!”, a passerby shouts at him, mindful of the accusations of theft against the PD deputy. In the book, presented by the author together with the presenter of Tg2 Manuela Moreno and the director of Adnkronos Davide Desario, all the Italian and international politicians who gave away “pearls” during the year.
Pope Francis and the headdress with feathers
Like the greeting between Biden and Pope Francis, with a slightly bruised Biden approaching and saying to the Pontiff: “What can you do to sit down please?”. Pope Francis is one of the protagonists of the bookand suddenly he appears wearing a Native American headdress full of feathers. Someone takes care to warn him: “When you arrive in Rome, take it off otherwise they’ll mistake you for a seagullThe highlight is the video of Bergoglio ‘welcoming’ the faithful who kiss his hand, but the Pontiff doesn’t seem too enthusiastic: “Here’s another one”, “And lift it up”, “Smooth!”, he says, removing his hand.
Who will be the revelation character of the year
Next year’s revelation character? “Could be Macron – says Palmaroli, pressed by the questions of the two speakers – or maybe Landini”. The most ironic one? “I say Renzi. I’m not saying the prime minister because it might seem flattering”, jokes the cartoonist. Palmaroli’s satire is not too ferocious, but “the climate – the cartoonist denounces – is a little more hostile, and it’s a little more complicated to do satire today”. Political correctness “reaches such levels that in the end you satirize political correctness”. On social media “there’s no hesitation, I receive threats like this, cheerfully. Of course it’s not pleasant.” But in the meantime, listening to him were many faces of friends, well-known figures and politicians: among these the magistrate Luca Palamara, the Italia Viva councilor Luciano Nobili, the minister Eugenia Roccella, the Iene correspondent Filippo Roma, the presenter Marzia Roncacci.
