Ypö-Viis was a Finnish punk band from Kotka. It operated from 1977 to 1981. Ypö-Viis was Finland’s first self-published punk band.
The band’s most famous songs were, among others Energy is A and O, Mari pogos and I’m afraid of the dark.
Holmström left Ypö-Viide in 1980. Soon after, the band broke up.
Of death said Holmström’s childhood friend and bandmate Miika Söderholm in a Facebook update. According to him, Holmström died of a serious illness.
“We met when we were 12 years old in an airplane club. 53 years of friendship, that’s a lot. There is now a huge hole in my world. Have a good trip, dear brother, and thank you,” Söderholm writes.
