The debut of "Lucky by God". The story of Natuzza Evolo at the theater

“Fortunata di Dio”, the original theatrical work based on the life of the Calabrian mystic, will debut at the end of May Natuzza Evolo. After a long preparatory work, the work signed by Andrea Ortis, Ruggero Pegna and Francesco Perri is now ready, dedicated to what everyone knows as mother Natuzza born in Paravati di Mileto (Vibo Valentia) on 23 August 1924 and died November 1, 2009on the day of the Feast of All Saints.

After the opening of the cause for beatification, with the authorization of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, she was recognized as a Servant of God in 2019. The actress of Calabrian origin Annalisa Insardà will play her in this work produced by Show Net srl, written by the director and screenwriter Andrea Ortis, already director, co-author and actor in Modern works such as The Divine Comedy Opera MusicalVan Gogh Café, Frida, Il Vajont of all, from the same manufacturer Ruggero Pegnaauthor of the book “Miracolo d’Amore”, the story of his leukemia dedicated to Natuzza Evolo, to whom he attributes the miracle of his recovery, and by the composer Francesco Perri, author of the original music and already author of the Opera su San Francesco di Paola (awarded at the Winter Film Awards in New York for Best Soundtrack with “The Guardian of The Ice”, etc.). Lucky by God avails itself, among others, of the prestigious consultancy of Gianmario Pagano, author of the libretto of the musical colossal “La Divina Commedia”, of the editing collaboration of Giusy Leone and Virginio Levrio for the lighting and visual design, also responsible for the lights and immersive effects of some of the main modern works such as Van Gogh Cafè and Frida.

“The Opera – state the authors – was born from the desire to bring on stage a figure of great popular devotion, a symbol of spirituality and faith, to which important religious works are linked, such as the great Sanctuary of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Refuge of Souls, wanted by the mystic and created by her Foundation in Paravati di Mileto, the Villa della Gioia for the sick and elderly annexed to the religious complex and the so-called Natuzza Cenacles scattered throughout the world”.

For years, every day, Natuzza Evolo has received hundreds of people in his home in Paravati and then at the Foundation headquarters, taking on their suffering, dispensing to everyone a word of relief, hope and peace, an answer that would help them find their smile and joy again. Through prayer, as an instrument of intercession, he invoked “grace” for those in need. Inexplicable healings, bilocations, extraordinary mystical phenomena, such as stigmata, blood tests, apparitions and dialogues with angels, the afterlife, the Madonna, Jesus, Saints are attributed to her.

“Through this show – the authors continue – we intend to promote, in addition to the knowledge of her testimony of faith, that of all the works she wanted and created, together with the various anniversaries celebrated in her name, which have a particular meaning in history and culture”. Its Church was officially opened for worship in 2022 and was elevated to a Sanctuary by Bishop Attilio Nostro in 2024. Today it is a destination for devotees and pilgrims from all over the world, in particular on the occasion of various anniversaries: Mother’s Day in May, the anniversaries of her birth and death, the arrival of the effigy of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Refuge of Souls on 10 November, in addition to all celebrations of the Catholic calendar. The Opera, which will tell the story of Natuzza’s life through three narrative tracks, it will debut on 23 and 24 May 2026 and, in the intentions of producer Ruggero Pegna, it will first touch the theaters of Cosenza, Vibo, Catanzaro and Reggio Calabria. Already in 2006, Pegna had organized “La Notte degli Angeli”, a large concert in the Foundation’s esplanade, in the presence of the mystic, broadcast throughout the world by Rai International. All information on the new opera, with dates and tickets, the profits of which will go to charity for the Foundation, will be announced in the next few days.
