Rosa von Praunheim died at the age of 83

The film and theater director and activist Rosa von Praunheim died in Berlin at the age of 83. At first he had Stern reports that the news was confirmed to RBB by the filmmaker’s closest circle of friends.

Von Praunheim, whose real name was Holger Radtke, had married his long-term partner just a few days ago. He was one of the pioneers of the German gay movement.

With his film documentary “It is not the homosexual who is perverted, but the situation in which he lives,” he brought discrimination against homosexuals into the social debate in the 1970s. He created more than 150 films.
