The Reina Sofía and the Railway Foundation will collaborate in the development of cultural activities

The Reina Sofía National Museum of Art Center y the Spanish Railways Foundation have signed a general protocol of action, which establishes a collaboration framework for the joint development of cultural, artistic, educational and institutional dissemination activities.

The protocol, which will last four years with the possibility of extension, includes the design and development of exhibitions, cultural programs, conferences, conferences and seminars that integrate the history of the railway; collaboration in the dissemination and communication of activities; or the transfer and shared use of spaces for the development of cultural events, presentations, training activities or institutional meetings.

It will also allow the design of educational programs aimed at different audiences, especially schoolchildren and families, and the development of research and archiving projects, including the pooling of available funds and resources.

The signing of the agreement took place at the Fernán Núñez Palace and the managing director of the Foundation, José Ramón Sempere, and the director of the Museum, Manuel Segade, participated.

Segade has highlighted “the good neighborliness” between both institutions, which share more than two centuries of history, and the “splendid opportunity” that represents “being able to open the cultural hub of the Atocha area through this collaboration.” According to a statement, for the director of the art gallery, the audiences of the Reina Sofía are not only those of contemporary art, and he trusts that collaborations like this will strengthen their bond.

For his part, the managing director of the Foundation has insisted that the institution he directs must do “an effort” to open up and open its public heritage to society, and expand their activities. Sempere has announced that the collaboration will take shape in 2026.
