Yle: Harrija Harri István Mäki’s myth with a plagiol

Author Harri István Mäki admits to plagiarizing an American poet by Richard Brautigan production to their own works. He has confirmed it To Yle.

The author says that the book published in his name Pink punk is a plagiarism from Brautigan’s work Fallout hat. Another book published under Mäki’s name Kafka opens a barbecue kiosk is, according to Mäki, a plagiarism from many different texts by Brautigan.

The publishing houses Enostone and Helmivöy said on Sunday removed from sale Mäki’s recent works due to plagiarism suspicions.

To Yle in his e-mail message, Harri István Mäki says that he has loved Brautigan’s “unique way of seeing and creating the world” since he was a teenager, and says that he has tried pastiches of the poet’s works over the years.

“The purpose was to distance the original works so that Kafka’s world meets Brautigan’s world, in which case something experimental would be born. Unfortunately, I did not express my idea to the publishers, in which case pastiches could have been worked on for a long enough time,” Mäki writes.

He also apologizes to readers, publishers, Brautigan’s rights holders and the Finnish literary world.
