“We try to enhance our heritage, plan the competition calendars in time and give the athletes the best opportunities to express themselves.” Thus Luciano Buonfiglio, president of CONI, commented on the preparation of Italian athletes in view of the second year of the four-year Olympic period, speaking during the ceremony of the 20th edition of the ASI Sport & Culture Award. The number one of CONI explained how Olympic preparation proceeds in harmony with all federations, not just the Olympic ones. “We evaluate the state of form of all Olympic athletes at the Institute of Sports Medicine – he said – and we share the methodology and path to follow with the technical management of the federations. This approach has already led, as you can see, to successes across the country.”
