Haute-Garonne: after heavy investments, the Peyragudes resort hopes to fill up during the holidays

Open since December 12 thanks to premature snowfall this year, Peyragudes (Haute-Garonne) hopes to fill up during the end-of-year holidays. Nestled in the heart of the Pyrenees, between 1,600 and 2,400 m above sea level, the ski resort has made investments in recent years to control its snow cover throughout the season. Last year, Peyragudes commissioned a latest generation snow factory, located at Côte 2000. This device makes it possible to produce snow at marginal temperatures (around -2°C), increasing production capacity by 30% to 1,500 m3/h and guaranteeing optimal snow cover over more than 70% of the area between December and March.

Already a pioneer with the Snowsat system, the station is now equipped with TipSnow, a predictive tool developed with Météo France which makes it possible to best adjust the snow depth required by sector, according to climate data from the last 30 years. Fine management that saves water, energy and damage, while ensuring the exploitation of the estate until the end of the season.

And for non-skiers

Labeled Famille Plus since 2016, Peyragudes has secure beginner areas. Non-skiers will also have something to do with a thermal and leisure center in the valley, and pedestrian routes such as the tour of Lac de Génos-Loudenvielle or the recently redeveloped Chemin de PeyraLoup. This 800 m forest trail, accessible to children and pets, now offers an enriched educational experience for the whole family.

Popular with Toulouse residents, the station is also counting on the reopening of the railway line to Bagnères-de-Luchon to attract new customers, in particular thanks to direct trains from the Pink City. A shuttle to the resort allows you to reach the slopes in just 30 minutes, and from 4 euros for a return trip.
