Berlinale boss Tricia Tuttle (55) is a big fan of the Christmas classic “Home Alone”. The film is definitely one of her family’s favorite Christmas films. “I will never get enough of watching this film. It is funny and moving. Sometimes you have to shed a tear,” she told the German Press Agency.
The 1990 comedy is one of the most popular Christmas films. In the film, an American family forgets their youngest son (Macaulay Culkin) when they leave for their Christmas vacation in Europe, who then has to fend off burglars alone and has all sorts of adventures.
Matching son’s Halloween costume
About Culkin, now 45, Tuttle said he delivered one of the best acting performances by a child of all time. “I’m actually not a big fan of slapstick, but this film always makes me laugh a lot,” said the American.
Her son dressed up as one of the burglars for Halloween. To do this, he put an iron print on his face – one of the burglars is hit by a hot iron in a film scene – and pinned his hair up. “I thought the costume was great.”
The next International Film Festival in Berlin is planned for February 12th to 22nd, 2026. It is already known that Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh will be awarded the Honorary Golden Bear for her life’s work and director Wim Wenders will chair the jury.
