Juha Kariluoto didn’t believe it at first when he heard about Pate Mustajärvi’s death

”Pate is like Jesus. The body may die, but the spirit never dies.”

Juha Kariluoton the atmosphere in the Kallion B12 bar is like a bodyguard.

When the guys at the bar told Kariluodo Pate Mustajärvi about death, he couldn’t believe what he heard for a couple of hours. The guys looked like phone news, and it was believable. Now that the day has ended, Kariluoto is ready to compare Lake Mustajärvi to Jesus.

Popeda’s songs have played in the background of Kariluoto’s life since he was young. Music means a lot.

“I have a short temper, a bit like an anger management problem. I hit the sack to Popeda’s pace, it helps,” he describes.

Kariluoto says that he also got to meet Mustajärvi through an acquaintance. It was humid and great, he recalls.

“Next, I’ll go home, smoke some spiced tobacco, and get Popeda’s gig rolling.”

Mustajärvi influenced Berghollm to start playing rock and punk himself. He learned to play the guitar with Popeda’s songs.

However, Popeda’s stand for equality left the biggest mark. In 2018, a huge My Little Popeda fabric decorated with a rainbow hung in the background of the concerts. It referenced the My Little Pony toys, and the band members were drawn as ponies.

Mustajärvi stated that the rainbow was a statement for the rights of sexual minorities. He also stated that musicians are so badass that Rainbows or ponies do not threaten their machoness.

“As a queer, I appreciated taking a stand very much,” Berghollm says.
