Tampere|The city of Tampere will honor the memory of Mustajärvi with lighting throughout the weekend.
The city of Tampere will project commemorative lighting in honor of musician Pate Mustajärvi on the wall of the Tammerkoski power plant for the weekend.
The lighting can be seen from the 2nd to the 4th. January from 16:00 to 00:00 for example from Koskipuisto beach.
Mustajärvi, known as the long-term frontman of the Popeda band, died on December 26, 2025.
Event manager Saara Saarteinen says that Mustajärvi was an inseparable part of Tampere’s cultural history and the story of manse rock.
To Tampere the city’s commemorative musician Pauli “Pate” Mustajärvi in honor appeared on the wall of the Tammerkoski power plant on Friday at 4 p.m.
Photographer Harri Hinkan the picture taken can be viewed on the 2nd–4th January from 16:00 to 00:00 for example from Koskipuisto beach. Profilight is responsible for the technical implementation of the lighting.
Popeda band Mustajärvi, which served as the front image for decades, died on December 26, 2025.
Event Manager Saara Saartinen states in the city of Tampere’s bulletin that Mustajärvi was an inseparable part of Tampere’s cultural history and the story of manse rock.
“With the commemorative lighting, the city honors the legend of Finnish rock and his life’s work. This also offers the citizens of the city the opportunity to stop by the memory of Lake Mustajärvi,” says Saarteinen in the announcement.
To Tampere The city also acts as Yle’s partner in organizing a memorial broadcast from the Tampere house. Pate Mustajärvi – Suomirock legend – broadcast can be watched on Yle Areena and Yle TV2 on Saturday, January 3 at 9 p.m.
