Oliver Laxe inaugurates the Recent Spanish Cinema series in Los Angeles with ‘Sirat’ and a discussion with Guillermo del Toro

Last Friday, January 9, Oliver Laxe inaugurated the Recent Spanish Cinema series in Los Angeles (USA) with the screening of ‘Sirat’, which was attended by more than 400 attendees at the Fine Arts Theater, according to the ICAA.

This exhibition of Spanish cinema, along with its parallel edition in Miami (USA) Recent Cinema From Spain, is organized by EGEDA US and the Ministry of Culture, through the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA).

After the screening, a discussion was held with Laxe, the actor Sergi López and the director Guillermo del Toro, who moderated the debate. The exhibition was attended by Rafael Portela, first vice president of the Spanish Film Academy; Garle Méndez, director of Egeda US; D. Gerardo Fueyo, Consul General of Spain in Los Angeles; and Mr. Alberto Cerdán, advisor to ICEX, Spain Export and Investment, in Los Angeles.

Laxe and ‘Sirat’ will continue to tour the United States throughout the month of January and next Thursday the 22nd the film will be screened again in the Recent Cinema from Spain series in Miami.
