‘The Big Bastard’, by Eduardo Casanova, selected in the Berlinale Co-production Market

Eduardo Casanova’s new film, ‘El Gran Cabrón’, has been selected in the Berlinale Co-production Marketwhich will take place between February 12 and 18. The film is produced by Morena Films, which celebrated the announcement on social networks.

“We are happy to announce that ‘El Gran Cabrón’, the new film by Eduardo Casanova, has been selected in the Berlinale Co-Production Market – European Film Market (EFM). It is an honor to accompany Eduardo in his new feature film“, stated the producer in a message published in X.

The film is set in a small town anchored in repression and superstition where the rural environment marks the way of life of its inhabitants and in which a black goat turns local festivals into a dark sacrifice.

In total, the Berlinale Co-production Market has selected 35 film projects from 27 countries to find partners, in order to secure their financing and be produced as international co-productions in the coming years.

In this edition, 16 of the 35 projects are led by women. The official selection of projects consists of 19 feature films fictional with budgets of between 600,000 and five million euros, selected from 390 applications.

Among the directors selected for their films are Alonso Ruizpalacios, Aida Begic, Klaudia Reynicke, Denes Nagy, Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige, Rodrigo Moreno, Signe Baumane, Deepak Rauniyar, Amanda Nell Eu, Fernando Guzzoni, Hao Wu and Leonie Krippendorff.
