The federal SC announces a meeting with Vasconcelos Library workers

The federal Ministry of Culture (SC), through the General Directorate of Libraries, reported that tomorrow a meeting will be held with 31 workers from the Vasconcelos Library, who reported having been fired at the beginning of January, in order to inform them about their incorporation into that information center.

In a statement, he explained that from the moment the first employee protests were presented, the secretariat, through the Legal Affairs Unit, the National Coordination of Labor Relations and the General Directorate of Libraries, opened dialogue tables and reached agreements with the dissidents.

He explained that in 2016 the workers, who were in the temporary trust operation mode and carried out work as librarians, customer service, collection management and logistics, requested their basification.

“The Federal Court of Conciliation and Arbitration (TFCA) issued four awards in which said workers are grouped, granting basification, which implies the creation of positions for the purposes specified by said court,” he pointed out.

He pointed out that the library receives constant maintenance due to natural wear and tear caused by the high influx of visitors to its facilities, which in 2025 exceeded one million 400 thousand. Likewise, due to atypical rains, investments are made in waterproofing, lighting and gardening, among other services.

He assured that in addition to having strengthened the facility’s collection, “as it is a recipient of the Legal Deposit, it has the most recent books”; It also offers artistic presentations, exhibitions, courses and workshops.
