‘Buen Camino’ overwhelms Avatar’s record, Zalone’s highest grossing ever

Good Way‘ is now officially the highest grossing film ever in Italy: the comedy with Checco Zalone he reached 68 million and 823 thousand euros in just 24 days of programming (with eight million and 562 thousand theatergoers), beating the record held by Avatar released in 2010, which was 68 million and 600 thousand euros.

A social and cultural phenomenon

‘Buen Camino’, directed by Gennaro Nunziantedistributed by Medusa Film and co-produced with Indiana Production in collaboration with Mzl, had been launched on Christmas Day and it immediately turned into a social and cultural phenomenonalso for the many topics addressed with irony and light-heartedness, from adolescence to health. His record, however, is destined to strengthen given that the film remains on schedule in theaters throughout Italy.

A record-breaking debut for the holidays

The debut was already a record: at Christmas the film grossed 5,671,922 euros, achieving the best result ever in Italy for a film on Christmas Day and surpassing the previous record of ‘Christmas in New York’ (2006). TO Saint Stephen the film came close to 8 million euros, bringing the total of the first two days of programming to almost 14 million, beating ‘Avatar – Fire and Ashes’, launched a few days earlier.

All the records broken by Checco Zalone

In the second week of programming, the film exceeded 53 million euros and Zalone thus also beat his previous successes (‘Sun in Catinelle‘ e ‘Tolo Tolo‘). Already after 20 days ‘Bien Camino’ had become the highest grossing Italian film ever, beating the record of another Zalone success, ‘Where am I going?‘, until this new record.

In 2016 ‘Quo Vado?’ it had grossed 65,365,736 and had failed to beat Avatar’s record by very little (65,607,562 euros). In 2022, before the release of the second chapter of James Cameron’s saga, ‘Avatar’ returned to theaters and grossed approximately another three million. Hence the record of over 68.6 million, a number ‘drugged’ by the fact that the film was released twice, 13 years apart. But now this record has also been broken by ‘Buen Camino’
